Photography:

"Fish Story" by Allan Sekula
  • 900 slides and a 7 chapter book- an example of a  synthesized group/ project of work with a theoretical book and photographical practise
  • Different ports around the world and how they work (photojournalism)
  • Sekula is a "Critical Realist" who uses Marxist theory behind his work, documenting society and the changes made
Games, Film and Digital Animation:

"Grand Theft Auto 5" by Rockstar Games
  • Microcosm of Society- Introversion of real life (people would rather play games)
  • Censorship in relation to games- warnings and age restrictions
  • Characterisation- gender stereotypes and identity- how prejudice and cliches of society is reflected by the game
Advertising:

"Silk Cut Cigarettes" by Saatchi & Saatchi for Gallaher
  • Ethics- should you advertise something that is bad for people
  • Code of Practise in Britain- not allowed to highlight cigarettes in a way that is to show Glamour, Sport, Success in Business, Masculine or Feminine or persuasive of people to begin smoking- The immense power of the creative against censorship
  • Advertisements based on connotation surrounding the brand 'Silk Cut' and a visual interpretation of the brand name
  • Freudian theory into subconscious desires- sexual, feminine connotations surrounding sex as well as destructive desires to self harm through cigarette usage.
Graphic Design:

"May '68 Student Posters" by L'Atellier Populaire
  • Printing studio set up by students
  • Campaign images produced in order to be part of the Revolution
  • How the police have censored the student population
  • "Weapons in the service of the struggle"
  • To put them into nice places would "impair both the function and their effect"- highlighting ethical design integrity
